My Portfolio and Blog

What you will see here is just the beginning. Journalism school and work experience has allowed me to accumulate design and writing samples from all over.

My work is also on Behance, Soundcloud, LinkedIn and Twitter. But this site will have the best of the best, all in one place.

You will also find brief reflections on each project I’ve pursued, which has been a large part of my personal growth, and career growth.

If you haven’t seen it yet, you’re about to. Enjoy!

HubSpot Academy

I feel I need to write about the Hubspot Academy. I happened upon their website when I was searching jobs in Content Marketing. I didn’t know much about Marketing at the time, but I knew lots about how to market my writing to suit the needs of a business.

Upon reading the job descriptions of a “Content Marketer” I felt I had the skills for it. I just needed the credentials.

I managed to acquire some work experience, but through Hubspot Academy, I was able  to get some education. After becoming Inbound Certified, all kinds of doors opened in Content Marketing, Email Marketing, and Contexual Marketing.

Further, I also learned how accessible learning best practices in digital marketing can be. After some trial and error, today I can say I am now Content Marketing Certified. After I finish the Practicum, I will also be fully certified to use Hubspot’s Marketing CRM software too!

I’m also looking into learning computer HTML code via Codecademy and of course, I want to stay on top of my SEO and Adwords Knowledge through Google Partners.

Until next time!

Aviation GSE: Print media

Back of Business Card Redesign (crop marks included)

As Marketing Lead at Aviation GSE involved a great deal of rebranding through design. The company wanted a new look using their original colours of black, white and red. It was a basic scheme that needed a fresh new look.

The first to be redesigned were their product specification sheets, especially since they were starting off the summer with a new equipment line. I also redesigned company letterhead, forms, brochures and digital media assets in the form of email marketing.

The below are a few examples of my work:

I was also responsible for maintaining the AviationGSE website. Which involved an interactive Product Catalogue, Regular Blog posts, and a careers page.

Aviation GSE- Company Website

This ongoing project is a huge responsibility that has built up my knowledge of WordPress Plugins and HTML/CSS.

In addition to revising and updating all copy, I have restructured the website to update a product catalogue (via Woocommerce plugin) in a way that is accessible for us, user-friendly for the prospective customer and trackable (using Google Tag Manager) for future online marketing initiatives. I’ve also setup a Careers page as part of Aviation GSE’s recruitment Strategy (using Job Manager plugin).

The site is also very interactive with  project slideshows (via RevolutionSlider Plugin) and Live Chat (Olark Plugin) options to help our representatives convert viewers through the marketing-sales funnel. All of which I monitored and designed in collaboration with the Sales team.

With very sparse knowledge of Google’s Marketing tools (Analytics, and Adwords) I’ve managed to optimize and increase the number of viewers that are looking at our site at any given time. Everyday, my knowledge of these tools and their potential is increasing.

Of course, I do not take full credit. As part of our Marketing strategy, we’ve established a hands-on outreach to our clients all over the world. In this effort, I’ve designed and updated company brochures, specification sheets, and business cards for our executive team using Adobe Creative cloud applications (samples coming soon!)

McEwan raises the bar on ready made

I had been a fan of Chef Mark McEwan for years. He  is a regular on Food Network Canada and has his own show The Heat. He also owns four restaurants and recently opened another  gourmet grocery store location in Toronto. What is now The McEwan Group is a force to be reckoned with, on the saturated Toronto food scene. From Chef McEwan’s story, I learned that ambition and business sense are not hindered by humility and raw talent.

This was no easy interview to get, since Chef McEwan is a very hands-on businessman. But it was worth every unanswered call.

I scoured the top 50 fastest growing tech companies in Canada and was able to secure an interview with Halifax-based health technology company, STI Technologies . The result was a story that could promote their services and bring awareness about their @InnoviCares program on the Atlantic coast.

Because Business Elite Canada’s relationship with Deloitte Canada, we were able to contact Canada’s Best Managed companies before their official announcement. I contacted MI Integration, and at their request I worked with MI Integration’s PR firm to produce this story. Needless to say, the feature brought in significant advertising and landed on the cover of our June Issue.
